The Beginning & The Razorback Work Party

As most of you know last year Ron & I traveled on our trawler "Companion" from Penscola Fl down the west coast, across Lake Okeechobee to the east coast, up the Atlantic coast of Fl all the way up to the Chesapeake area. Our last stop was Rock Hall, Md. It was a wonderful trip where many new friends and special memories were made.
You can look up past stories on our old blog "2oncompanion.blogspot.com".

Traveling on "Companion"

In Late August we brought the "Companion" back to Florida, sold it in September and put up our house in Lady Lake, Fl for sale in October. On March 30th we closed on the sale of the house and moved into our fifth wheel. The only dirt we own is the cactus plant I brought with us with dirt from our back yard! :-)

We are currently staying at Grand Oaks Resort. It is a 500 acre equestrian resort, with an RV park and many cottages for rent. It is a beautiful place where people board their horses, with many different horse shows and competitions going on all the time. There are horse riding trails as well as bike & walking trails. Besides many horses it is a great place to see other wild life.

Our girls Missy (16) & Sasha (5) have seemed to fall into RV living without much adjustment. We plan to stay here till the end of April, when we will store the RV and take off to Costa Rica for two months, where we plan to explore many different areas of the country. The cats will stay at a Kitty Resort in a private home.

Ron and I have decided to name our RV the "Chariot". I will be bloging on "2plus2onchariot.blogspot.com", sharing our current RV adventures as well as Costa Rica travels and whatever else comes after?????

Our good friends Kathy & John took a break from their boat travels and came to visit us for "docktails" at the "Chariot" and then to our favorite dinner place for ribs! They are currently on their last part of the Great Loop heading up the Atlantic coast to Vermont where they started.

April 4th through the 10th Ron went to the annual work party on the Razorback in Little Rock. This year, Dave, his son joined him! There were 18 total attendees which included 4 sons of crew members. The crew members had served together on the Razorback in the early 60's. The purpose of the week is to perform maintenance, upkeep and modifications to the old WWII diesel sub. They sleep on the boat, work hard & eat well since two of their old cooks also attend. All they could say was that it was a blast!
